Gilbert Leal Murdered
The Blade is reporting that Gilbert "Gilberto" Leal was shot to death in his parked car, probably on Friday night. You may recall that he was released from prison just over a decade ago by then Governor Voinovich after protests were begun over Leal's unfair trial, etc.
Leal's niece was one of my best friends in high school, back when he was released. From what I recall, he was a "problem kid" growing up who was pegged for the 1978 murder for that reason alone, not because he was actually involved.

I miss Leo aka- Gilberto with all my heart and I am so angry at those that have ended his life. May god bless his soul. He was one of the sweetest souls around this town. Love you LEO. You will continue to be in my heart and mind each and every day until I die. Work isn't the same without you.
