Hurricane Katrina Victims in Toledo
The Blade is reporting on hurricane victims who have been staying with relatives here in Toledo.
A little birdie told me, though, that some governmental agency is leasing 15 apartments at the Hillcrest for evacuated families. Who knows what other local properties are being looked at for evacuee habitation.
Toledo cannot be alone in providing housing. I'm glad to see that moves are being made to provide those poor people with places to call home, even if it is temporary. Yet I can't help laughing at the fact that nearly the only people Toledo has been able to get to move into the downtown area are desperate refugees of a natural disaster.
